Our Leadership Team

Mae Cavoli

Principal

Mae is a result oriented executive with over 30 years of leadership experience in the financial services industry including the delivery of tax services to high net worth and family office clients.

Prior to co-founding SSTR, Mae was a managing director and part of the Personal Financial Management Group of Goldman Sachs senior management team where she held various responsibilities, including oversight of Ayco’s tax practice and specialized services. Prior to that she was Chief Operating Officer of Ayco. She also served as General Counsel and was responsible for overseeing Ayco’s Compliance and Quality divisions and has a broad range of experience in managing regulatory actions, counseling on complex issues and governance matters.

Mae is a licensed attorney, admitted to practice in New York State. She received a Bachelor of Arts from Fairleigh Dickinson University, a Masters of Arts from Villanova University and a Juris Doctor from State University of New York at Buffalo.

Chris Pastizzo

Principal

Chris has over 30 years of experience in all aspects of tax services for high-net-worth individuals, including tax preparation and planning strategies, IRS audit defense and tax controls advisory.

Prior to co-founding SSTR, Chris was a managing director and part of the Personal Financial Management Group (PFMG) of Goldman Sachs leadership team as the Head of Ayco’s National Tax Group. He worked closely with PFMG advisers in delivering and meeting the tax service needs of clients at all levels through a team of in-house technical professionals and outsourcing partnerships.

Chris is an Enrolled Agent, admitted to practice before the IRS. He received a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Siena College and an MBA from the Graduate Management Institute of Union College (n/k/a the Clarkson University Reh School of Business).

Jason Brown

Senior VP

Jason has over 15 years of experience in tax and financial planning matters affecting high net worth individuals as well as developing interactive small group tax trainings for advisers and tax personnel.

Prior to joining SSTR, Jason was a member of the Personal Financial Management Group of Goldman Sachs most recently as a Vice President within the Ayco National Tax Group as a technical resource to advisors, clients, and tax staff. He joined Ayco in 2007 as a financial analyst transitioning to the tax team in 2010.

Jason is an Enrolled Agent, admitted to practice before the Internal Revenue Service. He received a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Master of Science in Taxation from Northeastern University.

Noreen Auringer

Senior VP

Noreen has over 16 years of experience in tax and estate planning matters affecting high net worth individuals, specializing in gift and generation-skipping transfer tax and fiduciary and estate income tax matters.

Prior to joining Spring Street, Noreen was a member of the Personal Financial Management Group of Goldman Sachs. She served in various roles during her time there within the Ayco National Tax Group, including Vice President of Gift and Trust Services. In this role she lead the team responsible for the preparation of fiduciary income tax returns, estate income tax returns, and gift tax returns. Additionally, Noreen has extensive experience training financial planners and tax professionals on these matters, reviewing trust documents and other related legal documents, and working with tax agencies on correspondence and tax audits. She joined Ayco in 2006 as a Tax Intern and became a full-time employee upon graduation that year.

Noreen is an Enrolled Agent, admitted to practice before the Internal Revenue Service. She received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Siena College.
